Mangalore Mutton Dalcha



This is a tasty dal prepared along with mutton, bottle guard and lentils. It is a side dish served with bagara rice usually.

Here meat with bones are added and it gives a very good taste. Combination of Mutton, bottle guard and lentils gives a unique flavour.

My family loves this Dalcha and they love to eat with khuska rice.

Steps to follow & Ingredients Needed:- 

 - Heat Cooker,

 - Mutton 1 (1/2 kg)

 - Whole Spices,

 - Leaf launge 1

 - Few peppercorn,

- Dalchini 1

- Green elaichi 1,

- Black elachi 1,

- One glass water,

- Onion (handful, take from that only),

- Salt,

- Haldi,

- ginger paste,

- Cook upto mutton is done,

- Then keep aside,

- Next step Heat Cooker,

- Channa dal 1/2,

- Toor dal 1/2,(soaked one hour before only)

- Doobhi (bottle guard)(1/2)

- Haldi,

- Cook upto 4 whistles,

- Then take doobhi and    keep aside.

- Heat Pan,

- Add oil and whole spices & fry,

- Onion (in that little you keep for tadka fry nicely,

- Then add giner paste,

- Haldi,

-  Chilli , Jeera, Dania, Garam Masala powder,

- Add Tomato (2) and fry nicely & cook for 10 minutes.

- Mutton (above) fry for 5 minutes, 

- Add salt , Plus elachi powder (pinch),

- Garam Masala powder, Coriander leaves and cook for sometime.

 - Lemon juice half and put Doodhi mixture, Mutton's water, Everything mutton's mixture and cook for 5 minutes.


- Add water coriander leaves, Pudina, and cook for 6 more minutes. Do thadka and put done

Thadka : Heat pan, add oil, onion (leftover), red chilly & Fry nicely.
